History and Description

Ancient water pipe that originated in Turkey. Hookahs are a status symbol, and are generally smoked in restaurants and cafes wherein intellectual discussions would occur.

Other Names

Also known as nargile, shisha, and hubble-bubble.^1,2

Typical Use

To smoke flavored tobacco. Approximately 30% to 50% of these flavored blends are tobacco, with the rest consisting of dried fruits, molasses, and honey.^1,2
